Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. Together with our customers, we drive innovations that are imperative to advancing national security.
We are seeking an Electrical Fabrication Supervisor to lead our wire harness assembly, associated electrical component assembly, and integration operations across both prototype and structured production environments. The supervisor will manage day-to-day production activities, oversee a dedicated trainer to support workforce skill development, and drive improvements in quality, efficiency, and process discipline
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in wire harness fabrication and electrical assembly, proven leadership within high-reliability or aerospace manufacturing environments, and the ability to mentor and develop teams to achieve excellence in both production execution and vehicle-level integration.
Why Join Us
In this role, you will directly shape the quality and reliability of the electrical systems that power our vehicles. You’ll have the opportunity to build and mentor a high-performing team, influence processes from prototype through production, and contribute to programs that push the boundaries of innovation. We operate at the intersection of structured aerospace discipline and fast-paced development, giving you the chance to grow your leadership impact in a dynamic environment where your contributions matter every day.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead wire harness fabrication, electrical component assembly, and vehicle integration.
- Supervise and mentor production team members, fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and growth.
- Manage and guide a dedicated trainer to ensure consistent skill development and hands-on instruction.
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD, NASA-STD-8739) while supporting prototype agility.
- Partner with engineering and quality teams to align build processes with design requirements.
- Monitor production schedules, resolve bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Drive process improvements that enhance safety, repeatability, and throughput in both prototype and structured production environments.
- Promote and enforce safety leadership across the shop floor, ensuring compliance with PPE usage, equipment standards, and safe operating practices.
- Support and perform on-vehicle harness installation and integration tasks, ensuring harnesses are properly routed, secured, and tested on aircraft platforms.
- Oversee component assembly (e.g., control boxes, avionics enclosures) to ensure consistent workmanship, quality and integration readiness.
- Track and report production metrics to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
- Maintain build documentation, records, and logs to ensure full traceability and compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with supply chain, procurement and logistics teams to ensure material availability and resolve shortages affecting production.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred; equivalent technical experience considered.
- Strong technical knowledge of aerospace harness standards, fabrication methods, and integration practices.
- Experience using J-STD to assemble and/or inspect soldered circuit assemblies.
- Experience with the assembly and inspection of in-house design avionics LRUs
- Proven leadership experience in wire harness fabrication, electrical assembly, or related aerospace/electrical manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success in training, mentoring, and developing production teams.
- Ability to thrive in a hybrid environment that balances structured production with rapid prototyping needs.
- Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration experience.
- Experience with MES systems, production documentation, and reporting tools.
Preferred:
- Vehicle-level harness integration experience.
- Experience implementing harness build tooling, workstations and associated infrastructure to support efficient, repeatable production.
- Experience with electric component assembly.
- Lean/continuous improvement certifications (Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.).
- Background in aerospace startups, R&D, or advanced manufacturing environments.
Work Environment
This role operates within a hands-on fabrication and assembly shop supporting both prototype development and structured production builds. Team members work at assembly benches and integration stations with standard aerospace tooling, overhead lighting, and ESD-controlled environments. Job function could require performance in other areas (e.g. aircraft hangar).
The position requires:
- Regular standing and manual dexterity for harness assembly tasks.
- Occasional lifting or movement of moderate components and equipment.
- Consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and ESD controls.
- On-aircraft work during harness installation and integration phases, requiring mobility in and around vehicle structures.
- Collaboration in a team-focused environment where adherence to safety protocols, production schedules, and organized workflows is essential.
Benefits and our location(s):
- 9/80 schedule
- Healthcare (medical, dental, vision, prescription drugs)
- Paid Maternity and Parental Leave
- 50% company match per contributed dollar into 401(k) savings plan, up to $11,500
