About the Role:
As a Freight Broker Container/Drayage, your main responsibility will be to facilitate the transportation of goods by coordinating with shippers, carriers, and customers. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of freight by managing the logistics and documentation involved in container and drayage shipments. Your ultimate goal will be to provide exceptional service to clients and ensure timely delivery of goods while maximizing profitability for the company.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the transportation of goods by working closely with shippers, carriers, and customers.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to ensure cost-effective and efficient transportation solutions.
- Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
- Prepare and process necessary documentation, such as bills of lading to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and carriers to foster long-term partnerships and drive business growth.
- Ensure company standard operating procedures (SOP) compliance.
- Promotes and develops safe work behaviors.
- Engage with customers / vendors to build positive relationships and excellent service to meet margin goals.
- Coordinate with sales team pricing and bidding on new business and drive sales success.
- Spot market analysis of prices and Carrier pay.
- Carrier procurement, retention, and safety compliance.
- Other projects and duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required); bachelor's degree in supply chain, Logistics, Business, related field, or combination of equivalent experience / education (Preferred).
- 5 + years of previous proven experience as a Freight Broker or similar logistics role (Required).
- Strong knowledge of container and drayage transportation processes and regulations (Required); TL & LTL experience (Preferred).
- Must be able to support TL & LTL work as needed; willingness to be cross trained.
- Experience in working with international shipments and customs procedures.
- Must have proficient knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), EDI systems, including advanced skills in Power Point, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, Word, (Required), Concur (Required).
- Excellent verbal and written communication and negotiations skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Customer Management Systems.
- Desire to surround customers with excellence in service.
- Willing to work overtime as needed to meet business needs.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and competing work demands.
- Excellent planning, organizational and project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Able to be flexible and balance competing priorities effectively; adapt to changing market conditions and industry trends.
- Able to remain calm under pressure and resolve issues efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in a high-volume work environment.
- Positive interpersonal skills, including the ability to work across all levels and departments.
- Excellent communication, analytical and organizational skills are essential.

Physical Requirements
Works in a standard office environment with some travel to other locations as needed (i.e. other facilities, staff events, training, etc.).
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds, on occasion, such as office products and supplies.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required as per business needs. Flexibility to work varying shifts as business levels increase.
