ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee operational and customer service activities of Operations Departments including ordering, stocking, receiving, inventory control, safety, customer service standards, member/shopper feedback and overall aesthetic of an engaging and comfortable shopping experience
- Observe all department operations, work with Store Manager and Department Heads to assess current systems/integrate new systems, to ensure department operations are running smoothly
- Organize workflow and ensure that employees understand their duties or delegated tasks
- Model supportive and participatory leadership qualities, actively promote team building and motivate staff to achieve their stated objectives: lead regular huddles and meetings, ensure department teamwork and communication is efficient and effective, and support all team members in achieving department goals
- Establish clear performance, productivity, and service expectations for all front-end department staff; coach and discipline employees as needed, in coordination with Store Manager, to ensure standards are met
- Work with Store Manager to develop and implement training materials and systems; Ensure on the job training for department staff utilizing training checklists
- In coordination with HR and the Store Manager, interview, hire and train new employees
- Work with Store Manager to develop and implement weekly schedules according to established labor budget; reallocate labor as needed to meet needs of operations; arrange for coverage of vacant shifts and fill in as needed
- Maintain a calm and friendly demeanor with all customers and employees/co-workers in all situations
- Investigate and respond to employee questions and requests
- Troubleshoot customer inquiries, questions and/or complaints that can’t be resolved by another staff
- Manage employee time keeping and attendance, including disciplinary action for attendance policy violations, per the company handbook or current CBA
- In coordination with Store Manager, assist with the development of efficient and effective store opening/closing procedures
- Provide corrective counseling/progressive discipline to store staff, when necessary, in adherence to Employee Handbook and CBA, and in conjunction with Store Manager and HR
- Actively participate in OBM and Department Head meetings
- Hold regular Front End Huddles and Front-End Safety Meetings
- Administrative tasks as assigned by Store Manager
- Provide leadership in emergency situations (medical emergencies, store emergencies/natural disasters, disorderly customers and/or shoplifters, etc.) in accordance with established procedures
- Work with Store Manager to develop annual budget
- Participate in quarterly inventory
- Assist in providing coverage and support to all departments when schedule conflicts arise
- Perform all other duties as assigned by Store Manager

- Excellent computer skills – proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Experience in retail food store environment, with knowledge of operations
- Management or supervisory experience
- Experience in planning, developing, and implementing systems, procedures, and policies
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment
This position works both in an office setting, as well on the fast-paced retail floor. Ability to work in moderate and loud noise environments including, but not limited to: computers, paging, telephones, human voices, and machinery (i.e. coffee/juice machines, ovens, slicers, mixers, etc.), as well in cold/hot climate conditions (i.e. cooler or near stove).
Physical Requirements

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time; sit and talk or listen. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- The employee is regularly required to bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders, bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders and squat.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Customary Work Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position. Shifts and workdays may vary. Generally mid-shift. Early shifts/closing shifts may be required as necessary to meet business needs. Quarterly overnight inventory required.
