About the role
Wyndham City Council is seeking a passionate and community-focused individual to deliver high-quality library services on the go. As the Library Outreach Programs and Support Officer (Band 4), you will
The Library Outreach Programs and Support officer works alongside the Programs and Community Outreach Librarian and reports to the Team Leader Library Community Outreach. You will be required to operate and drive the Pop-Up Library Van, set up the space and deliver programs, including Rhyme Times and Baby Times, provide customer service for patrons, and maintain the van collection.
As the Library Outreach Program and Support Office you will
· Play a vital role in connecting our diverse community with library programs, supporting lifelong learning, and ensuring excellent customer experiences through our Pop-Up Library Van and outreach sessions.
· Help make a genuine difference by improving literacy and access to library services in Wyndham's vibrant communities.
· Be part of a supportive, diverse team committed to inclusion, child safety, and professional development.
· Enjoy a varied, active role – from driving our Pop-Up Library Van to bringing library programs directly to communities.
· Be available to work on some weekends or after hours, depending on the outreach events.
What your day will look like
· Set up and pack down outreach spaces and help prepare library resources and materials.
· Deliver engaging outreach programs and early years activities at various community centres and other outdoor spaces.
· Operate and maintain the Pop-Up Library Van, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and efficient mobile service.
· Support the Programs and Community Outreach Librarian to help maintain the Van collection
· Engage and build relationships with patrons from diverse backgrounds, including non-library users.
· Provide outstanding customer service.
· Support colleagues and supervisors in planning and running community outreach events, contributing to a positive team culture.
What you will bring
· Diploma in Library and Information Services or other post-secondary qualification below diploma or degree or knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training commensurate with the requirements of the work at this Band.
· Experience delivering customer service and community programs with a friendly, inclusive approach
· Strong teamwork and adaptability, including ability to work independently and as part of a mobile service team
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse communities, especially young families and children
· Solid computer literacy, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and various other devices.
· A current driver’s licence and Working with Children Check is required.
