Your Role:
As a Principal Engineer and as a senior member of the Airframes Team, you will provide leadership with Aerospace related design, analysis and other technical support services, within your technical discipline and in accordance with the Engineering Management System and applicable regulatory requirements.
You will also have accountability for:
- Conducting independent review and approval of design artefacts and other Engineering and Technical Services (E&TS) engineering documentation.
- Providing input into MDO activities, contribute to the development of MDO, CAM and MTCH artefacts and support process improvements.
- Attaining and exercising of CAMO Engineer (CE), Design Engineer (DE1) and Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) Authorisation.
- Reviewing and approving consumption of repairs, modifications, and instructions, within your technical discipline and delegated level of Engineering Authority.
- Assessing issues, occurrences, and incoming technical information in accordance with NGA processes. This includes implementation plans, risks and Configuration, Role & Environment (CRE) impacts and mitigations.
- Provision of E&TS input to maintaining fleet configurations, technical and operational publications.
- Contributing to System Safety Engineering on all aspects of emerging System Safety issues and ensure all risks are communicated and recorded.
- Assisting in communications to operator representatives, relevant matters related to airworthiness, safety and operations.
- Providing technical guidance and support to leaders in managing and executing customer requirements and satisfying contractual and regulatory obligations.
- Supporting the development of improvement strategies and continuous improvement plans for the Engineering Management System.
About You:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Aeronautical / Aerospace / Mechanical / Mechatronics)
- Ability to obtain Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or equivalent state-based engineering registration
- Ability to obtain Chartered status through Engineers Australia
- The ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA security clearance at NV1
- 8+ years’ experience demonstrated experience as a Professional Engineer within the aviation industry with demonstrated experience managing the continuing airworthiness of an aircraft type
- Demonstrated experience working within a civil or military design organisation (21J Design organisation) developing structural or mechanical modifications or repairs
- Knowledge of configuration management, airworthiness regulation, and certification concepts utilised by ADF and/or civil operators
- Ability to obtain Design Engineer (DE1) Engineering Authorisation and CVE delegation authority
- Demonstrated performance, people leadership and customer interface skills/experience
