Position Summary:
An opportunity has arisen in the Engineering organisation for an Electronics Design Engineer in the Devices team with a minimum of 2-5 years development experience.
We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and tenacious individual educated to degree level in Electronic Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience in an Electronic Engineering environment.
The successful applicant will work as part of a highly motivated development team working to meet quality, cost and schedule targets across a range of devices.
The incumbent will be responsible for designing circuits and schematics, PCB layout design, coordinating design projects, interaction with cross functional teams, documentation of design and test processes and testing of electronic circuit and board designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Main development responsibilities shall include, but will not be restricted to:
- Design, development and documentation of microprocessor and microcontroller based PCB assemblies.
- Generating schematic drawings, BOM, Gerber package, bare board documentation and assembly documentation for PCB manufacturing.
- Supporting hardware unit test, as well as integration and systems testing.
- Designing circuits and schematics in Cadence.
- Designing multilayer PCB layout while meeting specified requirements, established design rules (including electronic circuit knowledge) and meeting DFM standards using Cadence Allegro.
- Use of tools for Schematic capture (Cadence experience preferred but not essential).
- Coordinate estimates of effort, schedule, and size of change to the relevant Project Manager.
- Regular progress reporting on schedule, quality & size of changes.
- Supporting existing devices through problem investigation and resolution.
- Building proficiency in PCB Soldering and board debug skills.
- Collaborating with mechanical engineers to define and verify requirements.
- Collaborating with other electronics design engineers in the team to develop new devices.
Required Skills, Experience & Education:
Basic Qualifications/Experience
- Honours Degree qualified (Electronics Engineering or related subject)
- A minimum of 2-5 years experience in device development.
- Knowledge of Analogue and Digital design methodologies.
- Ability to work coordinate multiple projects simultaneously within the bounds of PCBA design.
- Experience in Schematic PCB Design, Layout CAD tools, documentation, and development.
- Working to adhere to and maintain design processes.
- Interfacing with suppliers and cross functional teams.
- Maintenance of ECAD tools and supplemental tools.
Desired Skills and Work Experience:
- Development of USB Devices
- Knowledge of communications protocols and analysis methods.
- Design for EMC and Safety compliance
- Familiarity with FPGA and Microprocessor based designs.
