Position Summary: Delivers patient care according to the unit philosophy under the direct supervision of the RN to patients with emotional/psychiatric disorders, addictive disease disorders. PCA II supports the therapeutic milieu. PCA II ensures the safety and well-being of the patients. PCA II serves as a member of the planning team in establishing therapeutic treatment plans under the direction of the RN. PCA II provides continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients. PCA II will be a model of performance for other staff through orientation, mentorship and education of co-workers. PCA II will work under the direction of the Nurse Manager to complete additional tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

License

  • Will require valid driver’s license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance when using personal or hospital owned vehicle

Certification

  • CPR certification within 30 days of employment and prior to patient contact
  • Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to patient contact
  • Completion of additional age specific training within 30 days of employment as required

Minimum Work Experience

  • A minimum of one year of previous experience in a psychiatric health care facility, with direct experience working with chemical dependency, dual diagnosis, psychiatric and geriatric patients preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
