About the Credit Investment Analyst role
We’re looking for an outstanding Analyst to join a team that’s building the best corporate card and spend management platform in Canada.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for ‘diligencing’, analyzing, and driving the growth of Float’s credit portfolio.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Conducting thorough, and efficient, analyses of business fundamentals and financial performance for Float’s potential and existing credit investments, ranging from VC backed growth companies to longstanding, profitable Canadian businesses.
Monitoring the performance of Float’s credit portfolio, tracking account behaviour, and proactively identifying signs of potential credit deterioration.
Conducting periodic financial reviews of existing clients, analyzing business fundamentals, financial health, and repayment capacity.
Assessing credit exposures relative to limits, recommending adjustments where necessary, and escalating concerns to the Credit Committee.
Collaborating with clients to gather updated financial information and address inquiries, balancing risk management with customer experience.
Supporting the continuous improvement of Float’s credit monitoring framework, risk policies, and portfolio management practices.
Participating in due diligence calls with executives (CFO, CEO, VP Finance and Controller).
Partnering with our Sales & Marketing and Customer Success teams to relay feedback on what types of opportunities are adding the most value to Float.
Using our portfolio performance data to derive insights on how we can grow and shape the portfolio for optimal impact.
About You
Here’s what sets you up for success at Float:
You Put Customers First, Always. You care deeply about delivering meaningful value. Whether you're building internal systems or customer-facing features, you're always thinking about how to make life better for our users.
You Act Like an Owner. You take responsibility for outcomes, step up to challenges, and seek solutions proactively—doing what’s best for the business, not just your role.
You Think Big and Move Fast. You’re energized by building from 0 to 1. You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo, experiment quickly, and learn as you go.
You Constantly Learn and Grow. You’re hungry to improve your craft and open to feedback. You bring a growth mindset to everything you do.
You Raise the Bar. You care about doing things well and efficiently. You balance speed with rigor and always look for ways to improve how we work.
You Win as a Team. You’re a generous collaborator who values communication, context, and shared wins. You lift others up and help make the team stronger.
In addition to living our values, you...
You love investing. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have a love of investing. The analysis you’ll be conducting is similar to how a private debt or equity fund would think about its investments.
You’ve got the experience. To be successful in this role, we’re looking for 2+ years of accounting, transaction advisory, consulting, corporate or investment banking, or other similar experience, ideally with a bachelor’s degree (though that’s not required)
You relate to people extremely well. While you need to search deeply for the right answers, you’ll need the ability to do so in a way that partners with our prospects collaboratively to uncover the truth, vs. doing so confrontationally.
You think critically. You don’t just take others’ opinions for granted; you truth seek to validate or disprove investment hypotheses.
You’re conscientious. You make few mistakes in calculations or otherwise. Even while being creative and taking risks to find the best due diligence approach, you are extremely thorough and meticulous in the way you go about your work.
You’ve got an understanding of the market. You’re commercially focused with an understanding of the market and the business we’re in and have an ROI mindset.
You’re eager to continue your own learning. Scrappy and voracious, you want to know the ‘why’ behind every answer. You’re a thinker who can combine quantitative thinking with qualitative judgment.
You’re skilled at analyzing data to uncover insights and trends that inform investment decisions. Familiarity with SQL or similar tools is a plus.
Bonus, but not required: You also speak French to be able to communicate with Quebec-based prospects and executives.
This may not be the role for you if…
You need close day-to-day direction rather than working independently
You’re not energized by feedback or fast-paced change
You’re seeking predictability over adaptability
You’re not comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations
You prefer to stay in your lane rather than collaborate cross-functionally
You don’t feel a strong connection to Float’s mission or the product we’re building
