This position offers a base salary range of $65,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience. In addition to base pay, there is a performance-based commission structure based on new customer acquisition, growth of existing accounts, and overall sales revenue. This role offers strong earning potential for motivated individuals who excel at building profitable customer relationships. 

This position is full-time on-site in Rochester, NY. In order for a candidate to be considered they must be local to Rochester, NY, remote or hybrid arrangements are not available for this role. 


JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Sales Manager, the Outside Sales Representative will play a key role in driving new business opportunities and strengthening existing relationships by identifying prospects, assessing their manufacturing needs, and presenting Precise Tool’s CNC capabilities as the solution. Serving as the primary liaison between customers and the company, this role ensures projects meet quality standards and are delivered on time.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Research potential customers to ensure alignment between their manufacturing requirements and the company’s machining solutions.
  • Conduct cold calls to expand market presence and develop new sales leads.
  • Prepare and present customized proposals that highlight technical solutions and drive customer commitment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring clear communication with internal teams regarding specifications, timelines, and quality requirements. 
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with new and existing customers to promote repeat business. 
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge about precision-machined parts, manufacturing processes, and vendor capabilities to effectively address customer inquiries and propose solutions. 
  • Track and improve customer scorecard outcomes, collaborate with internal teams to address issues and enhance customer satisfaction. 
  • Travel to meet with prospects, visit existing customers, and attend trade shows, sales forums, and business meetings to represent the company and generate new business opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with management to develop sales strategies, set targets, and report on market trends and customer feedback. 
  • Work in conjunction with the quality team to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved. 
  • Promote and support the requirements and principles of the Precise Quality Management System and AS9100.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

  • Under limited direction, and with a quality work ethic, the employee shall function as a member of a customer-driven quality team whose goal is to ensure that product quality requirements established by the customer have been achieved. 
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining and precision parts in order to assess the company’s machining capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and personal leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, and eager to continuously improve one’s skill set and technical knowledge.
  • Comfortable with cold calling and generating leads.
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet-based research.
  • Willing and able to travel 15-20% of the time. 
  • Driver’s license and vehicle insurance required. 

  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.  
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in outside sales, preferably in manufacturing, machining, or industrial products. 


According to the New York Pay Transparency law, payrange for this job is $XX-$XX per year. The actual compensation will bedetermined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
