The Role

This role is primarily responsible for producing accurate management information to mutually agreed timescales, to support the downstream needs of business partners for financial, actuarial and operational reporting.  The Senior MI Analyst Developer role is responsible for working with internal business partners to analyze and develop standards for preparing and delivering business reports, build and maintain reports/dashboards and increasing the effectiveness and integrity of data reporting and documentation.

 

Responsibilities

Management Information and Reporting

  • Gather business requirements from internal business partners with respect to reporting and information needs, obtain sign off on proposed design and deliver solution via Power BI.

  • Manage the testing of new Power BI reports/dashboards including user acceptance testing.

  • Provide analytical, research, and/or reporting to support business related programs and strategies.

  • Create and maintain interactive analytics dashboards which assist internal users in identifying trends and making business decisions.

  • Create ad hoc reports for internal business partners as required.  Evaluate need to build ad hoc requests into dynamic reports/dashboards to be delivered via Power BI.  This includes but is not limited to data calls from state Departments of Insurance.

  • Keep abreast of developments and trends in data and reporting technology.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal business partners.

  • Manage the pipeline of Power BI reports/dashboards including prioritization, establishing deadlines and delivery.

  • Work closely with the Group Data team to ensure consistency in approach and delivery of PowerBI solutions.

  • Assist the IT Application Support, Finance and Data Analysis team with any research or resolution of reconciliation queries or data solution exceptions.

  • Analyze monthly risk and claims data for quality issues.  Work with the Data Analysis team to evaluate the effectiveness of existing validation rules in OWIT Global BDX-Central, and to propose enhanced or new validation rules to address data quality concerns.

  • Participate in the Canopius USA data stewardship meetings as needed, highlighting issues that require resolution with MGA’s and/or TPA’s.

  • Troubleshoot data and reporting issues.

Data Quality Management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in related work experience

  • Must have thorough understanding of source systems

  • Extensive experience in data processing, analysis and ensuring data quality

  • High level of proficiency in Excel including Power Query, Power Pivot

  • Ability to interpret and create complex, interactive visualizations from large volumes of data

  • Microsoft Access

  • Power BI development experience

  • Experience with SQL

  • Basic VBA

  • Strong attention to detail

  • High data and analytical literacy and proven ability to connect different data types to generate impactful insights

  • Quality and accuracy oriented

  • Passionate about data

  • Strong team player with an opportunistic and self-starting mindset

Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000
