About the Department

The Administrative Services Officer 2-Content Specialist will be responsible for creating and maintaining creative content for outreach, education, reputation management and crisis communications for the Communications Division of Metro Water Services. This position will also guide development of MWS communications to non-English speakers.

Employees at Metro Water Services work around the clock to ensure high quality drinking water, the best in storm water management and wastewater treatment, soil and water conservation, waste and recycling for the residents of Nashville-Davidson County and some surrounding areas. It takes electricians, chemists, engineers, mechanics, information technology workers, customer service representatives, utility equipment operators and more working together to meet our resident’s needs.

Position Duties

  • Create, manage, and optimize content across various platforms.
  • Collaborate across MWS divisions to develop content strategies.
  • Translate written content to Spanish.
  • Guide development of MWS communications to Hispanic communities.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing digital platforms such as social media and the website.
  • Staff exhibits and booths and/or assist with community engagement.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours including evening or weekend work.
  • Contribute to strategic thinking and implementation of public engagement and outreach efforts.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree plus one (1) year of professional content creation experience in a corporate/company setting.

*Additional experience may be considered in lieu of education on a 1:1 ratio.*


LICENSE REQUIRED
Valid Driver License

Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government. 

Other Qualifications


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Desktop Publishing Software, Canva and Adobe 
  • Experience working with platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube and NextDoor
  • Bilingual
