SUMMARY: 

Responsible for supervising Surveillance staff and the overall management of activities of the Surveillance monitor room on assigned shift, in an effort to ensure the protection of life and property.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Monitor all areas of the property, identifying potential security and/or safety risks and reporting them to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution.  
  • Ensure the quality of operations in the Surveillance Department on assigned shift.  
  • Apply advanced knowledge of all rules and regulations of the Gaming Commission toward ongoing training and development of Surveillance staff to ensure strict adherence throughout the property.
  • Protect casino assets and gaming integrity by assisting and managing team to provide consistent and thorough monitoring of activities throughout the casino property, particularly on the gaming floor.  
  • Ensure timely completion and accuracy of Surveillance reports.
  • Train Surveillance employees on assigned shift to understand the purpose of an assigned task and ensure all are completed in a timely, efficient manner.  
  • Responsible for the ongoing management of assigned shift’s schedule to ensure the Surveillance monitor room is appropriately staffed at all times.   
  • Will actively participate in the selection, training, evaluating, coaching, and discipling of Surveillance Operations employees.    
  • Actively promote a positive and cohesive team environment by encouraging Surveillance staff to assist one another, by sharing job knowledge and experience when needed.    
  • Review daily activity reports and prepare shift reports for management and incoming shift teams.  
  • Coordinate with the Security Department on open investigations and reported suspicious activity requiring further investigation and possible intervention. 
  • Will help facilitate the flow of information throughout the department, by attending regularly scheduled departmental meetings.  
  • Review documents and video coverage and report any unusual or suspicious activities to appropriate internal and external management, and outside agencies, as needed. 
  • Use Surveillance CCTV to regularly inspect the premises to identify potential safety or security hazards, and reporting same to the appropriate individual or entity, for proper resolution.  
  • Make recommendations to Surveillance leadership, when appropriate, regarding improved processes and procedures of the casino operation, with the protection of company assets in mind.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises the activities of all surveillance employees on assigned shifts.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) required.  Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related area from a four-year college or university preferred.  1 year of FW surveillance experience with documented performance and knowledge excellence.   

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of and experience with closed circuit television equipment required.  A minimum of two years in law enforcement, casino surveillance, or related area required.  Must possess excellent observational and communication skills.  Must be able to detect schemes or cheating activity directed toward the casino or its guests.

This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to write effective reports and memos.  Ability to respond to inquiries from employees or guests.  Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to interpret data from graphs.  

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.  A casino environment is typically smoky.
