JOB SUMMARY:
The Cost Analyst is responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on production and manufacturing costs to support data-driven decision-making. This role plays a key part in monitoring material, labor, and overhead expenses; developing cost models; and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency in the manufacturing of toolboxes and related products. The Cost Analyst also manages Bills of Materials (BOMs) and supports cost optimization initiatives across all product lines. Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams, this position ensures cost accuracy and drives continuous improvement in materials, processes, and overall production efficiency.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and analyze production costs—including labor, materials, and overhead—across all product lines.
- Review work orders, production reports, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify and correct cost variances or inaccuracies. Assist in BOM maintenance.
- Partner with manufacturing, engineering, and purchasing teams to understand cost drivers and ensure accurate cost allocations.
- Maintain and validate cost data for manufactured components and finished goods within the ERP system.
- Develop cost estimates for new products, re-engineering projects, and custom solutions, and refine costing methodologies as needed.
- Conduct post-project analyses to verify estimates and improve future costing accuracy.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and support implementation of process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
- Prepare and distribute cost reports that highlight production efficiency, waste, and profitability by product or department.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in cost estimation, manufacturing analysis, or product engineering.
- Experience in metal fabrication, assembly, or similar manufacturing industries is a plus.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, standard costing, variance analysis, inventory accounting, and BOM structures.
- Proven ability to analyze cost data and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including engineering and production.
- Proficient in ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, and other data analysis tools.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
