Primary Function:

Under the direction and supervision of the Production Manager, this position is responsible for repairing damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications.  Performs all duties within the objectives, standards, and policies of Willis Automotive.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Examines damaged vehicles to determine work to be performed.
  • Removes upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic windows and seat operating equipment, and trim to gain access to vehicle and fenders.
  • Positions dolly block against surface of dented area to beat opposite surface to remove dents.
  • Fills depressions with body filler.
  • Removes damaged fenders, panels and grills.
  • Bolts and welds replacement parts in position.
  • Straightens bent automobile frames.
  • Files, grinds and sands repaired surfaces.
  • Aims headlights.
  • Repairs or replaces defective mechanical parts.
  • Communicates work accomplishments and activities to supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned.

 

What we need from you:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information including vendor catalogs
  • At least three year's working knowledge in all aspects of body repair of vehicles
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and other machinery in a safe manner
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds comfortably 
  • Valid Iowa driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record in accordance with insurance provider
  • Ability to operate vehicles with both manual and standard transmissions
  • Must have ability to work well in a team-based environment
