This position is based at Unitus Business Center in Tigard, OR.
Responsibilities:
- Complete basic functions pertaining to delinquency/default of a variety of loans to ensure payments, recovery, problem resolution, and protection of the credit union’s interests. Apply analysis and basic collection techniques to secure repayment plans and make decisions on methods of collection, performing duties within the framework of credit union policy and guidelines and in compliance with applicable State and Federal lending regulations. Gather information and maintain communications to ensure a strong member experience in the timely resolution of delinquent accounts. Recommend effective solutions in complex account situations. Protect the interests of the membership, while lowering risk to the credit union. Participate in maintaining delinquency and write-off that is lower than peers.
- Monitor accounts and perform follow-up as needed to ensure payments are received, including processing pay-by-phone for members. Make appropriate referrals for repossession, charge-off and referral to outside agencies.
- Meet department goals for delinquency, write-off, and recovery. Serve as a resource to other departments and branches to provide feedback to assist in continuously improving and strengthening the quality and soundness of lending activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school education or equivalent certificate
- At least one year of experience reviewing and analyzing account notes to determine course of action required.
- Collections experience in a financial institution, including basic knowledge of debt collection practices in consumer loans preferred
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish is preferred.
