Under limited supervision, responsible for providing routine semi-skilled landscaping and care in the maintenance of the grounds. Upkeeps and cultures lawn, plants, hedges, trees, and general maintenance of grounds. May lead or mentor lower level team members.
Schedule: Monday-Friday from 6:00am-2:30pm
Responsibilities
- Mows, trims, and edges turf grass areas.
- Prunes trees and trim shrubs.
- Grades, seeds and lays sod.
- Grades, lays out, replaces, tends and maintains flowerbeds or other decorative landscaping.
- Installs, maintains and performs minor repairs of irrigation systems.
- Maintains walkways, driveways and parking lots to include removing ice and snow.
- Maintains grounds clean and reports broken or leaking hydrants, faulty sprinkler system equipment and any unsightly plant or material conditions on the grounds.
- Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on gardening and grounds equipment.
- Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
- Applies advanced skills in procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization.
- Performs more advanced functions and assists with the training and development of lower level employees.
- Works with crew to ensure all assigned areas and tasks are completed properly and according to schedule.
- May lead crews or projects as assigned.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of landscaping methods and techniques.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in grounds maintenance and installations.
- Experience using hand tools, powers tools and other maintenance equipment including but not limited to leaf blowers, string-line trimmers, walk-behind curb edger, and large mowers.
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot simple mechanical failures.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid TX Driver's License is required - must have a clear driving record.
Company
- Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
- Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
