GenesisCare has an exciting opportunity for a Cancer Nurse Consultant to join our team on the Mornington Peninsula on a full time, permanent basis.

As a Cancer Nurse Consultant, you are responsible for providing individualised and coordinated care for patients requiring radiotherapy at our new centre situated within Peninsula Private Hospital.

This role will ensure that treatment and care is planned and delivered in partnership with patients and families. This will be delivered through effective and timely communication with patients, families, and carers.

This role also provides expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals and facilitates care management plans for patients who are referred to GenesisCare and who are discharged back to their health service provider.

More specifically, you will:

Patient care coordination and education

• Create links to and liaises closely with health services to ensure a seamless transition of patients between their primary health provider to GenesisCare
• Attend multidisciplinary meetings where required to remain informed and to plan patient care
• Undertake comprehensive patient assessment to develop, facilitate and evaluate the care management plans for patients with complex health needs
• Facilitate and lead Nurse Led Clinics, with a focus on Prostate cancer

Professional leadership and clinical practice

• To be recognised as a role model and expert clinician in the delivery of cancer care
• Assume leadership roles, which promote broader advancement of clinical practice e.g., membership in relevant interest groups and nursing committees both internally and externally
• Provides leadership in the ongoing review of best practice and contributes to the development and delivery of nursing education

Research and quality improvement

• Initiates and utilises findings of research in the provision of clinical services
• Initiates, conducts and disseminates the findings of locally based research related to cancer and radiotherapy

Clinical service planning and management

• Develops effective relationships with key stakeholders to achieve better outcomes for patients
• Contributes to the development and management of clinical processes e.g., care pathways, policies and procedures
• Implements systems and processes to plan and co-ordinate patient care

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

• Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
• Minimum 5 years nursing experience and expertise in oncology nursing
• Postgraduate qualification or working towards in Oncology Nursing, Advanced Nursing or similar
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate and plan the care of people with cancer across the continuum of care
• Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of quality patient care
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with external key stakeholders
