Varsity Baseball Assistant Coach chez The Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg

Overview:
St. Petersburg Catholic High School, home of the Barons, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach to join our athletic staff. This position will primarily support the head coach in all aspects of the baseball program, with a strong emphasis on pitching development, strength training, and speed/agility performance. The ideal candidate is passionate about mentoring student-athletes, developing their skills both on and off the field, and fostering a culture of discipline, teamwork, and excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Coach in the planning, organization, and execution of daily practices and games.

• Provide specialized instruction in pitching mechanics, arm care, and game strategy for pitchers.

• Design and implement a strength and conditioning program tailored to baseball, emphasizing injury prevention, mobility, and athletic performance.

• Incorporate speed, agility, and quickness training to enhance overall team athleticism.

• Support scouting, player development, and game preparation, including opponent analysis and strategy.

• Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, faculty, and the broader SPC community.

• Model and promote the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and commitment aligned with the mission of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.

• Assist with program logistics including equipment, travel, and communication.

• Contribute to the long-term vision and growth of the SPC Baseball Program.

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience at the high school, college, or club level (experience working with pitchers preferred).

• Strong knowledge of pitching mechanics, arm health, and performance training.

• Background in strength and conditioning and/or certifications in athletic performance training preferred.

• Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to connect with and motivate student-athletes.

• Commitment to the mission and values of St. Petersburg Catholic High School.

• Must meet all FHSAA and school requirements for employment and coaching.

• Successful completion of a Level II Background Screening.

Position Details:

• Reports to: Head Baseball Coach & Athletic Director

• Season: Spring (with offseason conditioning responsibilities)

• Compensation: Stipend position
