Instructional (Title 1) Paraprofessional

Central Elementary

5.75 hrs/day, Student Days

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring or small groups for eligible students, only at a time when a student would not receive instruction from their teacher.
  • Maintain Semi-Annual Certifications or Personnel Activity Reports (PARs) forms as is required by the legislation.
  • Assist with classroom management in a Title I classroom.
  • Participates in the progress monitoring of eligible students.
  • Provide computer lab assistance for identified Title I students.
  • Participate in parental involvement activities for identified Title I students.
  • Provides support for the small group instruction of Title I students in basic subject matter specified in teacher provided written lesson plans under the direct supervision of that classroom teacher.
  • Maintains a relationship with the student that is sensitive, supportive, motivating and professional.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of classroom behavior.
  • Maintains a positive collaborative relationship with school personnel.
  • Assists the supervising teacher(s) in the preparation and administration of appropriate Title I instructional and evaluation materials.
  • Inputs data and/or test results and printing reports for the supervising classroom teacher(s).
  • Maintains high level of ethical behavior including confidentiality of information about students.
  • Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Completes other duties and responsibilities only that are allowable under Title I rules and regulations as assigned by supervising classroom teacher(s) and/or building administrator.

Requirements for Paraprofessional Assignments

Two years of college or Associate’s (or higher) degree or

Confirmation of passing the MTTC basic skills test or WorkKeys

Experience with elementary school students

 Strong background in language arts and technology.
