The Position - Director of Finance & Operational Support

Summary of Responsibilities

The Director of Finance & Operational Support provides strategic leadership for Mid-America Transplant’s financial operations while overseeing key support functions including Supply Chain and Facilities. This role is primarily focused on financial stewardship, reporting, and planning, with additional responsibility for guiding operational support teams that enable the success of clinical workstreams. The Director partners closely with department leaders to promote shared ownership and mutual accountability for our resources, strong internal controls, and alignment with organizational goals. The scope of this role is focused on financial and operational support functions.

 

What You’ll Do

Financial Leadership

  • Work in concert with organizational leaders to set organizational targets and business plans to match the vision of the organization.
  • Oversee capital budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and investment management in accordance with policy.
  • Present financial insights and budget recommendations to Executive Leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor general accounting activities and identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Design and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and procedures to ensure operational integrity.
  • Analyze cost trends and variances to identify opportunities for savings and performance improvement.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Direct the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports in compliance with GAAP, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate annual audit and tax return processes, ensuring timely and complete documentation.
  • Oversee the development of the CMS cost report and supporting work papers.

Operational Support Oversight

  • Provide strategic guidance to the Supply Chain team, supporting process improvements and ensuring alignment with operational and financial goals.
  • Support Facilities leadership in maintaining infrastructure and rolling out updates to the Master Facilities Plan.
  • Serve as a resource for issue resolution and strategic planning related to facilities systems and capital projects.

Strategic Collaboration

  • Partner with leaders across the organization to support enterprise-wide initiatives and ensure financial and operational alignment.
  • Participate in cross-functional process improvement initiatives from ideation through execution.
  • Provide insights and recommendations that enhance both departmental and organizational performance.

People Leadership

  • Foster a culture of growth and continuous improvement through mentorship, coaching, and professional development.
  • Leads by example and consistently embodies our values, serving as a role model for employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead Finance and Accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Provide strategic oversight and hands-on support to Finance & Accounting, Supply Chain, and Facilities teams.

 

What You’ll Bring  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s degree a plus
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • Application of Accounting and Payroll practices and standards
  • Root cause analysis and problem resolution techniques application
  • Creating business and/or financial strategy
