ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.
Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Church Mobilizer develops and deepens partnerships with churches throughout Western NY helping them accomplish their missions as they align with World Relief's mission and vision.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until September 30, 2026, and contingent upon funding extension.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the Church & Community Engagement (CCE) Manager to develop a strategy for church engagement and mobilization with refugee and immigrant communities, aligned with World Relief Western NY’s (WRWNY) programmatic goals, mission, and vision
Integrate CCE staff, as well as other WRWNY staff, into the execution of the church engagement and mobilization strategy
Manage a church portfolio of 30-50 church partners, including regular communication, meetings, care, and tracking in WRWNY’s data management system Dynamics
Effectively engage, mobilize, and steward immigrant and non-immigrant churches in partnership with WRWNY around the four key areas of giving, advocating, volunteering, and equipping
Work with the CCE Manager to develop and implement a strategy for reaching a funding goal of $100,000 from church partners in FY26
Intentionally build new and ongoing holistic and mutual relationships with pastors and their churches with the goal of helping churches fulfill their missions
Continue WRWNY’s work to develop and grow a local network of churches from a variety of denominations and cultures, who desire to serve, support, and advocate for refugees and other immigrants
Update and maintain church accounts in Dynamics, including phone numbers and email contacts for pastoral leadership and lay leaders, as well as tracking conversations, events, and other activities
In partnership with the CCE team, coach and resource church leaders, teams, and volunteers for effective ministry alongside refugees and other immigrants
Regularly preach, speak, and present at churches and other events on behalf of WRWNY Assist CCE Manager in developing and sending out monthly church leader newsletters
Encourage and participate in multi-denominational and multi-cultural prayer, worship, and service opportunities in support of WRWNY's mission
Work on the planning and implementation of yearly church related events, such as pastor’s gatherings, No Longer Strangers, World Refugee Day, the annual Good Neighbor Gala, etc.
Develop a local church champion program to more effectively engage churches
CCE Team Collaborative Functions:
Assist the CCE Team with general volunteer orientations, church and community events, community engagement, trainings, and program activities
Meet 1-on-1 with church leaders, community partners, volunteers, and other community stakeholders regarding partnering with WRWNY, as needed
Attend departmental meetings to share input on program participants adjustment and integration, and to better guide volunteers and interns in assisting to meet programmatic and missional goals.
Participate in relevant national World Relief community of practice(s) on a periodic basis
Participate in conversations regarding monetary donations with relevant constituents
Pray for World Relief, program participants, the church, and the Western NY community
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Mature and personal Christian faith
Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
Willingness to work with a wide variety of church denominations and theological positions
Prior knowledge and relationships with Rochester area churches
Demonstrated skillset in decision making
Current driver’s license and access to reliable transportation required
Ability to work two weekend days/month, primarily during church services, and one evening/week for meetings/trainings primarily with church partners
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
MDiv or related degree
Ordination in a locally represented denomination
Strong Administrative skills
Experience with Microsoft platforms
