About the role
The Engineering Chief of Staff partners directly with the CTO and engineering leadership to ensure the organization operates efficiently, executes priorities, and communicates clearly. This role is focused on driving alignment, accountability, and delivery across the engineering org.
What you'll do
- Maintain and improve the operating rhythm between engineering and product — planning, prioritization, goal tracking.
- Drive closure on strategic initiatives that improve the business and engineering org by coordinating with the engineering senior leadership team.
- Lead cross-cutting engineering initiatives that unlock product velocity.
- Run leadership meetings: own the weekly senior leadership meeting—agenda, notes, follow-ups, accountability.
- Drive communications: prepare briefings, decks, and updates for internal and external audiences.
- Keep priorities moving: ensure the leadership team closes on actions and stays focused on what matters most.
- Provide context both ways: make sure leaders and their teams are aligned with the right information at the right time.
- Be the glue between very high-functioning leaders who need to work as a team but are too busy to connect the dots themselves.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to gain an understanding of the product lifecycle processes
- Experience working within a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with an ability to execute with minimal oversight
- Expectation of coming in as a systems thinker who'll design scalable ways of working across multiple teams
Preferred Qualifications
- COS experience in a startup
- Experience in engineering operations, product delivery, or technical program management
- Proven track record in improving coordination between product and engineering orgs
US Salary Range
$90,000—$120,000
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package.
