The SR Hardware Design Engineer is responsible for development of controls designs and drawing using AutoCAD Electrical and Eplan. The drawings will be sent to customers for review and to the production department to be built.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Hardware Design
- Industrial control panel design UL508A
- 3-phase (less than 600V), single phase, and low voltage power distribution
- HMI/PLC Control systems designs, including plant-wide SCADA systems
- Industrial networks designs
- Industrial electrical safety designs and compliance
- Short Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) Calculations
- Hazardous Area panel designs
- Functional Safety, Risk assessments and Sistema Reports (PL, SIL and Cat)
- Code compliance
- Industrial control panel design UL508A, UL698 (required)
- National Electric Code (NEC/NFPA70) (required)
- Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery (NFPA 79)
- Electrical Safe Work Practices (NFPA70E)
- European Community (EC), CE Compliance and IEC 60204
- Control system equipment specification
- Understanding of components required in controls systems designs
- Vendor meetings
- Vendor negotiations (occasional for equipment evaluation)
- Job management/parts database software– develop proficiency
- Electrical CAD drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, Eplan and Vault
- Design and shop assembly manufacturing process support for optimal efficiency and quality
- Customer interface and support
- Assist engineers from other departments in hardware designs and production coordination
- Project Management
- Primary project management responsibility
- Responsible for project execution within the constraints of scope, schedule, and budget
- Perform project work to accomplish the project objectives
- Actively participate in sales/marketing activities including:
- Customer visits with potential and existing customers
- Proactive business generation
- Quote generation/estimating
- Follow-up with customers
- Production Coordination
- Project Management for Control Panel Builds
- Procurement – occasional backup to production manager
- Validate parts in manufacturing software
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or 2-year technical degree and 5 years of minimum relevant experience

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be dependable and on time to work daily
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office work: Office desk/cubicle environment with extensive computer use
- Occasional control panel IO powered checkouts in panel shop or at customer site
- Orientation activities include training on and building control panels
