Job Title: Home Infusion Nurse/Infusion Office Supervisor

The Home Infusion Nurse/Infusion Office Supervisor will be responsible for delivering intravenous (IV) therapy to patients in the comfort of their homes and provide oversight and supervision to the Infusion Office. 

Job Summary: 

As a Home Infusion Nurse/Infusion Office Supervisor, you will be required to travel and infuse patients according to standardized nursing policies and procedures. You will be responsible for complying to applicable federal, state, and local laws, while also following industry standards, nursing policies, and recognized best practices. You will also be responsible for delivering patient care, performing necessary assessments, and contributing to continuous process improvement efforts. You will also be responsible for overseeing the daily clinical operations of the Infusion Office and will provide exceptional collaboration with the clinical team. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care by supervising, mentoring, and supporting the Infusion Office staff while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and policies. The Infusion Nurse / Infusion Office Supervisor collaborates with providers, administrative staff, and leadership to optimize workflow and patient care outcomes. You will interact with patients as well as other stakeholders in the care continuum process and ensure timely responses while interacting with internal staff as needed. You will be working closely with other departments in the company to make a positive impact on the care of renewed and referred patients.

Job Skills, Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Administer intravenous medications, fluids, and therapies to patients in their homes as prescribed by the physician.
  • Assess patients' conditions and monitor their responses to therapy, including managing any potential side effects or complications.
  • Educate patients and their families about infusion therapies, including medication administration, safety protocols, and potential side effects.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting assessments, treatments, and outcomes. Complete and submit the required documentation within allotted time frame.
  • Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust the patient plan of care as needed.
  • Being a strong patient advocate and communicate effectively with patients and their families to relay any concerns or questions to the nursing and pharmacy team.
  • Ensure all medical equipment is functioning correctly and is safely used during infusions.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and symptoms during the infusion process, taking immediate action if necessary.
  • Act as a liaison between clinical staff, providers, and administrative leadership.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Infusion Office team and report any to the Director of Home Infusion Nursing
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Maintains client data/ records in an efficient manner, provides reports and documents when needed. 
  • Communication with patient’s case managers and infusion nurses  
  • Verifying documents for accuracy  
  • Monitors home infusion care provided to patients with acute and chronic diseases. 
  • Resolve conflicts or concerns among staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and RN oversight.
  • Assist in onboarding, orientation, and annual training of Infusion RNs, in home precepting, coaching, educations. 
  • Comply with healthcare regulations, policies, and safety standards, ensuring that all infusions are done safely and effectively.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training related to home infusion therapy practices.
  • Provides care as defined within the scope of the state’s nurse practice act.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Current and unrestricted RN license.
  • Bachelor of Science in nursing, an associate degree in nursing, or have graduated from an accredited and approved nursing program.
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience as an RN preferred, ideally with home care experience, must possess exceptional IV skills
  • Current CPR w/ verified skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to patients' homes.
  • TB Test
  • Knowledge of IV therapy, medications, and infusion techniques.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate and support patients and families.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a home care setting.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment used in infusion therapy (e.g., infusion pumps, PICC lines, central lines, etc.).
  • Successfully pass annual competency requirements.

Physical Demands:

Required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear; required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment; must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs; specific vision requirements for this job include: close, distance and peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position without compromising patient care.
