We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced HVAC Retrofit Lead for tenant improvement (TI) retrofit projects in commercial and mixed-use spaces. This role requires a strong hands-on background in installing and detailing various types of ductwork, rooftop units, split systems, and performing electrical and control wiring. The ideal candidate will be able to manage crews while working in the field, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee all aspects of HVAC retrofit installations on tenant improvement projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and submittals to plan and execute installations accurately. Including but not limited to duct detailing and take-off.
- Install and hang:
- Spiral and S&D rectangular ductwork
- TDF duct systems
- Detailed ductwork layouts in tight retrofit conditions.
- Set and install:
- Rooftop AC units
- Water-source heat pumps
- Split systems
- Exhaust fans
- Perform and oversee:
- Brazing and soldering of refrigerant lines
- Control wiring and electrical wiring
- Startup and commissioning with assistance from service teams (if applicable)
- Coordinate and lead jobsite teams, assigning daily tasks and ensuring quality control.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, and clients.
- Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety regulations, and project specifications.
- Maintain accurate jobsite documentation, including timesheets, material lists, and field changes.
- Train and mentor apprentices and field installers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; trade or technical school preferred.
- 5+ years of HVAC installation experience, including 3+ years in retrofit and TI environments.
- 3+ years of leadership or foreman-level experience in the field.
- EPA Universal Certification (preferred)
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, mechanical plans, and submittals.
- Hands-on experience installing and detailing:
- Spiral duct, S&D rectangular duct, TDF systems
- Rooftop units, split systems, exhaust fans, water-source units
- Brazing, soldering, refrigerant lines
- Low-voltage control and 120/240V electrical wiring
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
