Chief Architect
The Chief Architect is a visionary and strategic role to lead our centralized architecture function and a high-performing team of architects. This role is responsible for defining the enterprise technology roadmap, driving architectural governance, and aligning architecture decisions with business objectives. The Chief Architect will champion innovation, guide AI adoption, and play a critical role in evaluating SaaS and vendor solutions, simplifying the technology landscape, and partnering across functions to ensure architectural integrity and execution.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Enterprise Architecture Leadership: Leads and mentors a team of solution, domain, and enterprise architects, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and architectural excellence.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborates closely with leaders in Operational Excellence, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, and Application Development to ensure architectural alignment and execution.
- Business Alignment: Ensures architectural decisions and investments are tightly aligned with business priorities and strategic outcomes.
- Technology Roadmap Ownership: Defines and evolves the enterprise technology roadmap to support business growth, modernization, and operational efficiency.
- Innovation & AI Strategy: Drives innovation through emerging technologies, including AI/ML, automation, and advanced analytics, ensuring scalable and responsible adoption across the enterprise.
- Architecture Governance & ARB Leadership: Chairs the Architecture Review Board (ARB), ensuring consistent governance, design standards, and architectural compliance.
- Blueprint & Standards Definition: Establishes and maintains enterprise architecture blueprints, reference models, and technology standards across domains.
- SaaS & Vendor Strategy: Evaluates and guides adoption of SaaS and third-party solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and long-term scalability.
- Application Portfolio Oversight: Leads rationalization and modernization efforts using the 5R strategy (Retire, Replace, Rehost, Replatform, Refactor), with a focus on simplification and value realization.
- Architecture Risk Management: Identifies and mitigates architecture-related risks, ensuring resilience, compliance, and security.
- Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) Architecture: Architects for performance, scalability, availability, and security across platforms and solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8 years of experience in enterprise architecture
- Prior experience in software engineering
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise architecture
- Experience designing roadmaps and strategy for tech teams
- Experience mentoring and leading teams as a trusted technical advisor
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Banking or Financial Services Industry experience
