UFG is currently hiring for an Electrical and Mechanical Technician who provides installations, maintenance, and repairs of complex machinery and systems for the UFG campus that will promote a comfortable, inviting and safe working environment for all UFG employees. This position will assist in decision making regarding all aspects of the corporate buildings’ MEP equipment, maintenance, repair, operation programs and projects including remodels, construction, equipment maintenance, contractor coordination and supervision, building control administration, fire systems administration, and response to emergencies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating MEP capital projects, including new construction and large asset repairs.
- Assist in decision making of products and services required to complete projects.
- Communicate effectively with UFG staff, vendors, contractors, and maintenance team regarding MEP issues.
- Monitor project schedules and budgets.
- Supervise contractors and coordination of all trades.
- Proactively identify MEP issues and work with UFG Facilities staff and contractors to resolve.
- Assist Maintenance team with daily work orders.
- Assist MEP Systems Manager with current BAS system and additional environmental system equipment.
- Monitor fire system, maintain, and provide feedback for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications:
Education:
- 2-year college degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Relevant certification or license.
Experience:
- 4 – 6 years of electrical and mechanical experience
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles to troubleshoot and fix equipment, including network wiring and termination knowledge.
- Prioritizing important parts of the project, negotiating skills, decision-making skills, time management, organization skills.
- Knowledge of equipment and ability to keep updates current and relevant.
- Strong computer skills.
- Asset and life cycle knowledge.
Working Conditions:
- General office environment.
- This job may require working irregular hours, evenings, or weekends on occasion.
- Travel represents less than 10% of this role.
- Jobs may require work in the field with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, smoke, and soot.
