The Materials Manager is responsible for leading and directing all incoming materials movements to support the Liberty operation. This includes, where appropriate, leadership in key areas such as quotations, planning, inventory management, and procurement. This role will support the overall growth strategy of CDC by establishing and executing an optimized inventory plan, implementing cost-saving projects, developing an effective SIOP process, and leading key personnel.
Requirements
- Provide leadership and guidance related to the development of key talent, retention, succession planning, and corrective action to support organizational objectives.
- Champion SIOP process - includes marshalling of appropriate cross-functional resources toward executing customer-driven material strategy and optimization of ERP system functionalities to support the process.
- Optimize inventory levels for Liberty. Focus on identifying an effective material stocking strategy and minimizing excess inventory.
- Appropriate identification and reduction of OSMI per company guidelines
- Implement appropriate KPI's for direct reports (examples include supplier scorecards, daily inventory receipts, shortage tracking, outstanding purchase orders according to material plan, cost savings implementations versus budget, etc.).
- Effectively manage processes surrounding acknowledgment and proper planning of incoming customer orders to support customer requests.
- Own master scheduling process for key components to support SIOP forecast/material plan.
- Ensure proper alignment of quotations and order confirmations with customer expectations.
- Managing decisions to make/buy components to support overall manufacturing cost strategies.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related field preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years leading teams within a manufacturing environment
Technical / Function Specific:
- Computer proficient
- High proficiency with MS Excel, Outlook, & MRP systems
- Technical knowledge of machining, welding, and assembly
- Math and calculation
- Problem solving and formulations
- Reading and proofreading
- Reasoning and analyzing
- Decision making – Use of logic and technical reasoning to identify and resolve problems
- Strong organizational and communication skills and negotiating capabilities

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working behind a computer, up to 8hours, possibly more.
- Frequently required to stand and/or walk for up to 6 hours per day and make frequent trips from the office area to the manufacturing floor.
- Ability to independently lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- The ability to wear all required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing area, including but not limited to safety glass and steel-toed shoes.
