The Opportunity: The Collections Supervisor will supervise a team of Specialists and offer expertise in resolving customer concerns as it relates to past due account balances in an accurate, professional, and timely manner. You must possess all the collections skills necessary to coach and develop a team towards meeting the department’s monthly, quarterly, and annual goals. The Supervisor will work cross-functionally to maintain and enhance the Collections/Account Recovery processes by organizing and evaluating collections strategies and systems procedures.
What You Will Do:
- Supervise, coordinate activities of collectors, and manage the day-to-day work functions
- Hire, train, and delegate work to meet business expectations
- Issue written and oral instructions
- Actively foster employee growth through training, performance evaluations, mentoring and coaching at individual and group level
- Ensure work coverage for the group, including scheduling, attendance management and payroll
- Isolate and identify opportunities for improvement and work cross-functionally to enhance business processes and work environment
- Contribute to the development of processes and procedures
- Review and generate reports on Specialist’s performance and provide feedback
- Lead small to mid-size projects
- Follow established processes and procedures
- Proactively escalate concerns or barriers to meeting set goals
- Maintain and enforce compliance with FDCPA regulations
The Experience You Will Bring:
- High School Diploma and 5+ years of supervisory experience
- 3 – 5 years minimum experience in Collections/ Account Recovery in a contact center environment
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- First-class customer service skills with ability to tactfully handle and resolve difficult situations with employees, business associates, customers, and other business partners
- Maintain confidentiality as it relates to all sensitive matters regarding employees and company matters
- Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports, presentations, and recommendations based on the findings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical, tactical decision-making, problem-solving and conflict management skills
- Possess business process improvement skills
- Thorough knowledge of collection techniques and regulations
- Self-motivated with strong organizational/prioritization skills
- Demonstrate the ability to review matters from an objective standard
- Ability to delegate responsibilities, give effective feedback, and foster teamwork
