The Saint Mary's College Department of Mathematics and Computer Science invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, beginning in Fall 2026. This is a tenure track position.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. We are particularly interested in applicants who demonstrate expertise in applied areas of mathematics, with an emphasis in mathematical modeling and/or statistical applications with an expressed, preferably demonstrated, interest in teaching at the undergraduate level. A successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to assume a leadership role in teaching and developing applied courses in areas such as math modeling, applied linear algebra, and/or actuarial and data science. An ability to teach at the graduate level in our Master of Science in Data Science program will provide an additional advantage. The expected teaching load will be 18 credits per year. Responsibilities beyond teaching include directing undergraduate research and senior comprehensive projects, academic advising, appropriate scholarly and professional activities, and service to the Department and the College.

A complete application includes a curriculum vitae; a letter of application that conveys your relevant experience and your interest in working at a Catholic, justice-oriented, women’s liberal arts college; a statement of teaching philosophy that addresses your commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment, considering students from a broad variety of backgrounds and learning styles; all post-secondary transcripts, evidence of teaching excellence (such as teaching evaluations); a brief statement of research plans; and the names of three individuals to serve as references, at least two of whom can address teaching experience or potential. Note that letters of recommendation will only be requested for candidates who advance beyond the initial round of screening.

All materials should be submitted by December 1, 2025.
