A technology leader is key strategic role within the business making executive technology decisions on behalf of the business, based upon the sector and practices’ strategic direction and goals.
The core responsibilities of a technology leader in Kainos include setting a Technology direction, a technical advisor to the business and C-level clients, maintaining a commercial edge over other technology services providers, developing and nurturing technical talent across the organisation and representing Kainos as a technology evangelist.
Key responsibilities (scoped to area of responsibility and in priority order) are:
People Development
Identifying, mentoring and coaching talent within the technical capabilities, supporting a culture of wellbeing and inclusion
Developing future technology talent aligned with the needs of the business in terms of strategic development and succession planning
Creating environments for technical talent to thrive and achieve ambitious goals
Strategy
Conducting strategic analysis and make recommendations that could influence the business strategy over medium- and long-term horizons
Work with Innovation and business development teams to qualify and evidence strategic analysis
Managing the technology budget and making investments aligned to the business strategy
Review, question, and support development of Sector/Practice technology strategy
Business Development
Uses cross cutting Sector/ Practice insights to identify business development opportunities where existing or future technologies can assist in solving existing or future business or client’s problems.
Inspiring potential and existing clients and employees within Kainos markets and driving change where necessary
Engaging with senior clients as a senior technical adviser. Establishing and developing trusted relationships that position Kainos as their technology partner of choice where strategic customer engagement is required
Communication
Communicating complicated technical goals to non-technical people
Engendering enthusiasm about the possibilities new technologies can offer
Project the Kainos technology voice external to the organisation and represent Kainos in the broader technology ecosystem
Partner Development
Ensuring appropriate engagement and relationships across the Kainos technology community are in place with strategic partners
Identifying and developing future go to market strategies with strategic partners
Developing peer relationships with key strategic partners
Qualify and introduce new partners to our business and Sectors/ Practices
Maximise the value we achieve across the technology team from our partnership relationships
Innovation
Supports alignments across your peers and capability in researching and qualifying relevant technology shifts
Identifying, recommend and drive strategic technology investments (skills, capability, partnerships etc.)
Researching and qualifying current and future technologies
Infosec
Accountable for delivery focused Infosec across the organisation
Delivery and Assurance
Accountable for Bid and Delivery Assurance across the organisation
Supporting Sector/ Practice teams to plan for delivery ahead
Strategic delivery engagement and exceptional escalations
Minimum Essential Requirements:
Has experience of setting a technology focused vision and directing change across a spectrum of disciplines, balancing a focus on people, customer impact and commercial implications.
Embeds a continuous improvement approach to direction of process, people and use of technology.
Proven experience being accountable for different sizes and shapes of technology delivery challenges, e.g. services project, multi-team programme, packaged product. Building relationships and influencing at a c-suite level.
Has applied innovative/ creative thinking, to new offerings and accounts to develop business; applying strong commercial awareness.
Able to prioritise their time across multiple major projects particularly when working to deadlines.
