About the Department
Position Duties
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for massage services.
- Monitor program performance and client satisfaction by addressing client inquiries, concerns and feedback
- Maintain compliance by following and upholding all health, safety and security regulations
- Recruit, train, and supervise massage therapists.
- Manage staff schedules and ensure adequate coverage.
- Ensure a welcoming and professional atmosphere that encourages collaboration, respect and professionalism among students, employees and clients.
- Maintain accurate records of appointments, staff hours, and client feedback.
- Prepare reports on program metrics and outcomes.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to promote massage services and to build partnerships with local organizations and health professionals.
- Organize wellness events and workshops.
- Provide guidance and support to students in a positive manner.
- Work closely with the Director of Spa Services.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of class lectures and lab instruction by preparing course descriptions, and developing comprehensive lesson plans and course material that align with curriculum objectives and industry standards
- Manages inventory, organization, and ordering of supplies and classroom materials and equipment
- Models correct procedures, rules, and conditioning while teaching and instructing each course.
- Manage, rate, and provide feedback on requested weekly assessments.
- Deliver dynamic and interactive classroom instruction, incorporating a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
- Provide regular performance evaluations and provide individualized feedback and support to students to facilitate their skill development and academic progress.
- Demonstrate proper massage techniques and protocols, by incorporating new research and techniques into the curriculum as appropriate to ensure students develop proficiency and confidence in their practice.
- Serves on College committees and task forces as assigned.
- Attends required campus events, including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in a health or medical related field or equivalent education and experience of at least five (5) years of professional experience in the field of massage and bodywork therapy.
- North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy license
- Maintain CEU's as set forth by the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy
- Possess or willing to obtain certifications for other modalities.
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
- Two (2) years as a lead or instructor in the Massage Therapy Curriculum is required.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology as they relate to massage therapy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students.
- Patient, empathetic, and supportive attitude towards students from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting professional integrity in the practice of massage therapy
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Requires mobility, and the ability to stand for long periods of time, performing demonstrations of all basic massage therapy services.
- Ability to lift/maneuver up to 50 lbs.
