Description
We’re looking for a seasoned Cx Manager to join our team supporting a hyperscale data center campus in Afton, TX. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, technically complex environments and has a proven track record of leading commissioning programs from early planning through system turnover.
As the Cx Manager, you’ll be responsible for coordinating all commissioning activities, driving schedule execution, and ensuring that all MEP and controls systems perform to design intent and client standards. You’ll act as a key interface between the owner, design, construction, and operations teams helping deliver a reliable, high-performance facility that meets the demands of mission-critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Commissioning Program Delivery – Oversee and coordinate all phases of commissioning (Cx), including planning, pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing across multiple data center phases.
- Cross-Functional Coordination – Collaborate closely with design engineers, construction managers, QA/QC teams, and operations to ensure seamless integration from construction to turnover.
- System Readiness & Quality Control – Verify MEP systems and equipment installations meet design intent, manufacturer requirements, and performance expectations.
- Vendor & Contractor Oversight – Direct commissioning agents, specialty contractors, and vendors to ensure timely execution of commissioning activities.
- Schedule & Risk Management – Track progress against key milestones, identify potential risks or bottlenecks, and implement proactive solutions to maintain schedule integrity.
- Documentation & Reporting – Manage Cx documentation including pre-functional checklists, functional test scripts, issue logs, and final turnover packages.
- Safety & Compliance – Champion a zero-incident culture; ensure commissioning activities adhere to all site safety and regulatory requirements.
- Client Interface – Provide clear, proactive communication with client stakeholders, supporting progress reviews, technical updates, and issue resolution.
- OFCI Coordination – Support installation and commissioning of owner-furnished, contractor-installed (OFCI) equipment such as UPS, generators, chillers, and switchgear.
- Continuous Improvement – Contribute to the development of best practices, lessons learned, and process standardization across projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent technical experience).
- 10+ years of experience in commissioning management or field engineering on large-scale mission-critical, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems within data centers or other high-reliability facilities.
- Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple contractors and vendors in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, BIM 360, and/or commissioning software tools.
- Certifications such as CxA, PMP, or PE preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
