Arizona Baptist Children’s Services & Family Ministries (ABCS) is a faith-based, non-profit organization with a mission to provide hope and care to hurting children and families through Christ-centered ministries. ABCS serves the full spectrum of Arizona families, from unborn babies to seniors. As an evangelical Christian organization, we minister to the physical, social, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs of children and families. The Ministry Support Specialist, Development and Communications has a deep calling to ministry and evangelism, and walks a life that exemplifies their faith.


The primary purpose of all positions at Arizona Baptist Children’s Services & Family Ministries is to share the message of the Gospel and the hope that is in Christ. The Ministry Support Specialist, Development and Communications is expected to fully incorporate this mission in all that they do. In addition, Ministry Support Specialist, Development and Communications will work with ministry leaders from all seven ABCS ministries, helping to support them in their efforts to serve hurting children and families.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university is preferred, but not required if the candidate has experience in non-profit development, database management or multi-channel marketing and communications (mail, email, web, video, social media).
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop is helpful, but not necessary.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Level 1 fingerprint clearance card.
  • Must have a current negative TB test, clear urine drug test and clear criminal background check, and valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Must be a Christian and live a life consistent with the Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, Core Values, Guiding Principles and Code of Standards of Arizona Baptist Children’s Services & Family Ministries.
  • Must demonstrate mature moral values and a passion consistent with the agency’s mission statement, as evidenced by behavior and active participation in a local church.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides support for the Development and Communications department.
  • Must be able to learn and utilize web-based programs.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in data analyzing.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in keyboard skills and computer literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe products and the internet.
  • Must possess effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to solve problems by thinking critically and creatively.
  • Must possess interpersonal abilities to build relationships with coworkers and leaders.
  • Must be able to manage a large number of simultaneous projects in a fast-paced environment with good planning and organizational habits.
  • Must demonstrate teamwork skills that will allow for working toward common goals.
  • Must be able to operate office equipment, such as printers, copiers and postage meters.
  • May require some evening and weekend work.

A Day in the Life of a Ministry Support Specialist:

  • Assists with multi-channel marketing and communication strategy. Includes direct mail, email, brochures, video, social media and website. Manages and updates website content.
  • Works with the Development and Communications team to manage projects such as mailings, fundraising campaign logistics, materials inventory and event support.
  • Works with ministry leaders to fulfill materials requests. Helps design marketing materials and write content.
  • Manages volunteers, interns and other staff as assigned.
  • Assists in managing and maintaining QuickBase donor database and generates reports.
  • Tracks and reports ministry highlight statistical information for ministries, social media and websites.
  • Analyzes data from website, social media, donor database and email.
  • Generates donor recognition, including gift receipts, recognition gifts, acknowledgements for memorial gifts and handwritten thank you notes.
  • Studies methods of improving work measurements, performance standards or processes.
  • Updates forms and documents regularly and posts to SharePoint.
  • Supports and implements agency’s Core Values.
  • Participates in agency meetings and events as requested.
  • Carries out any other duties and responsibilities, as required by supervisor, to perform the job.

Salary/Benefits 


  • ABCS offers full-time  benefits and competitive pay.  
  • Salary will be determined based on education and experience.  
  • Full-time employees with Arizona Baptist Children's Services receive a health benefits package that contributes up to $10,000 of their total annual benefits package, including full medical, supplemental medical, short-term disability and $35,000 of life insurance at ZERO PREMIUM COST. 
  • All employees receive seven paid holidays per year and earn paid sick leave. Full time employees will also earn ten days of paid time-off and five personal choice days per year. 
  • Mission Action time (allowing staff to take paid time-off to participate in mission trips, vacation bible school or other similar activities without losing any of their accrued time-off).
