The Department:

 

Mayer Brown's Antitrust & Competition team has an outstanding track record of successfully representing clients involved in some of the most challenging competition cases before competition and regulatory authorities and courts around the world.  Mayer Brown is recognised by Global Competition Review as a top 20 "Global Elite" firm.

 

It provides counselling and compliance services to many of the world’s largest companies and financial institutions.

The practice focus includes:

 

  • Merger control
  • Foreign investment
  • Cartels
  • Abuse of dominance

  • Competition litigation
  • Regulated sectors
  • Technology
  • Public procurement

 

The Antitrust / Competition team in London has a high quality and growing practice.  It is part of the firm's substantial European and global Antitrust & Competition practice (which is also represented in Brussels, Düsseldorf/Frankfurt, Paris, the USA, Hong Kong and Brazil). 

 

The team in London is currently involved in complex behavioural investigations, multi-jurisdictional merger control, litigation and other matters, and works closely with contentious and non-contentious practices of the wider firm in London and worldwide.

Responsibilities:
  • Advising on a range of competition law issues
  • Drafting, reviewing and amending legal documentation
  • Supporting the team in developing excellent professional client relationships
Qualifications:

A qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with 2-5 years post qualification experience.

 

Experience, skills and personal attributes:

  • 2-5 PQE experience in a leading firm;
  • Excellent people skills and strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Proven background in providing assistance in transactional contexts (including merger control and foreign direct investment advice)
  • The ability to work effectively within an established, close-knit team;
  • The ability to interact confidently with clients and develop business pro-actively;
  • A commercial and pragmatic outlook;
  • A degree from a reputed institution, with a minimum grade of 2:1 or equivalent;
  • Self-motivation and a very pro-active attitude.
