About the Role

The Director, Student Engagement and Retention is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to the Student Engagement and Retention unit.  The Director is responsible for the effective delivery of all programs and services focused on the engagement and retention of undergraduate students as well as the support of students through the successful completion of their undergraduate academic programs. The Director is responsible for the strategic assessment of all programs and activities within the Student Engagement and Retention unit and oversees the management of all aspects of the unit’s operations, administration, budget, human resources, and information systems.

Qualifications

Master's degree and five years of related management experience, which includes direct experience in student development, student engagement and retention, academic advising, or student services, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Master’s degree and five years of related management experience, which includes direct experience in student development, student engagement and retention, academic advising, or student services, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of university policies and regulations related to academic advising, enrollment management and student services.
  • Excellent knowledge of the post-secondary education system (both national and international), student information systems, and admissions and registration functions.
  • Excellent strategic planning, leadership, interpersonal, communication (public speaking, oral and written), problem-solving, conflict resolution, organizational, and analytical reasoning skills.
