About This Opportunity 

Join our team as the Outreach Program Officer to help deliver a range of engaging on-campus and in-school programs focused on breaking down barriers and increasing higher education access for regional and low socio-economic students.

Key responsibilities will include: 

Program Delivery and Student Support

  • Develop and deliver a range of educational workshops and presentations both on and off campus. You will provide expert advice and guidance to secondary school students regarding post-secondary study options and university transition.

Logistics and Event Coordination

  • Lead the organisation of all logistical aspects for on- and off-campus programs, activities, and events. This includes managing venue bookings, transport, catering, preparing materials and run sheets, and ensuring all details are efficiently managed.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Build and manage relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (e.g., schools, faculties, ambassadors) to ensure effective program delivery. You will also develop and prepare creative web and print content for communication updates to students, parents, and schools.

Team and Administrative Coordination

  • In collaboration with program coordinators, administer aspects of the Ambassador/Mentor Program, including selection, training, and operational supervision. You will also coordinate general administrative tasks, support budget planning, manage data entry, and utilise university systems (like CRM) to collate and analyse survey data.

Please note the position is based at the UQ St Lucia campus and involves frequent planned travel to partnered high schools as well as UQ Gatton Campus.

About You  

  • Degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education, with a background in Student Services, Support, or similar student-facing roles.

  • Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to adjust your style when engaging with various stakeholders. You also possess an understanding of the systematic barriers faced by students from underrepresented groups, including low socio-economic and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.

  • Possess high-level administrative and organisational skills, demonstrating an ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining excellent attention to detail. Demonstrated event planning experience is also required.

  • High level of computer literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe suites. You must also have the ability to rapidly gain competency in specialised programs such as Vision6, Canva, InDesign, and Drupal.

  • Possession of a valid open driver’s license with a clean driving record.

  • Hold and maintain a valid Queensland Government Blue Card.

  • Hold and maintain a valid First aid and CPR certification.

You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment, and may be required to complete background checks including, criminal history and education checks. Employer sponsored work rights are not available for this appointment.
