Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSEThe Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester invites applications for a full-time therapist position to join its Behavioral Health Partners (BHP) team. BHP provides mental health care to eligible University of Rochester employees and their adult dependents in an outpatient setting. Our multidisciplinary team works together to provide medication consultation and psychotherapy for common conditions such as anxiety, stress, depression, and ADHD. The successful candidate will have expertise in evidence-based treatments, will be skilled in collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and will be able to collaborate effectively with primary care providers. We are seeking a qualified master’s level candidate (LCSW or LCSW-R, LFMTs, or MHCs) with three years post graduate experience, strong clinical and diagnostic skills to join our vibrant team. The therapist provides comprehensive mental health and/or dual diagnosis services for individuals who have a diagnosable mental illness, functions as the primary clinician and is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, therapy/counseling, and education services for patients and families within the BHP model of care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides direct clinical services to assigned patients, including evaluation, individual therapy and crisis intervention.
- Under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment performs complex psychosocial assessments and diagnostic formulations for patients and their families when indicated.
- Ensures the development and implementation of comprehensive and individualized treatment plans for patients with clearly defined therapeutic goals; conducts evidence-informed treatment with patients.
- Documents treatment in patient's electronic medical record in compliance with Program, Department and Hospital regulations.
- Meets minimum target for clinical productivity set by service director.
- Mobilizes family and natural support networks when clinically indicated.
- Assesses successful completion of therapeutic goals and plans termination of therapy accordingly.
- Participates collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide coordinated care.
- Collaborates with referral sources and other professionals both internal and external throughout patient care activities.
- Coordinates with Primary Care Physicians to ensure continuity of care.
- Establishes and regularly maintains cooperative working relationships with community and healthcare agencies, as well as professional and administrative staff of the Medical Center University.
- Coordinates with support staff regarding patient scheduling, fees, and insurance issues.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Master's degree from a Counsel for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP) accredited program with major course work in mental health counseling required

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Mental Health Counselor, Creative Arts Therapist) upon hire required
- Or if licensure has not been obtained upon employment, an active limited permit or submitted application to the NYS Department of Education. required
- Upon hire required and NYS licensure as a mental health practitioner (e.g., Mental Health Counselor, Creative Arts Therapist) within 36 months required.
