Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment and treatment of assigned patients and achieving the objectives of the practice and in each clinic.
Essential Functions
- Recover patients that have received sedation
- Perform IV's
- Administer nursing care to ill, injured, or disabled patients
- Monitor and report changes in patient symptoms or behavior
- Communicate with collaborating physicians or specialists regarding patient care
- Telephone prescription refills to pharmacy and document in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Perform routine laboratory functions such as obtaining and labeling specimens, ordering analysis, documenting lab results, and possibly explaining results to patient
- Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals and medical facilities
- Maintain accurate patient medical records
- Provide advice and emotional support to patients and their family members
- Assist with front office duties as needed
- Good attendance is expected of all employees as a normal condition of work
- Additional duties as assigned

Infection Control Category
This job is designated as a Category I job using OSHA definitions. This means there are tasks that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Use of appropriate protective measures is required for any employee engaged in Category I tasks.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

The Registered Nurse will have access to confidential information, both written and oral, in the course of his/her employment and job responsibilities. In order to maintain the integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI), this information is not to be disclosed to any unauthorized individuals as outlined in the Policies and Procedures of HRMD.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional medical procedure room environment following the standards of the AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses).
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job and include (but are not limited to): the ability to stand/walk for up to twelve (12) hours per day; bend, stoop, twist; assist patients in turnings, rising from recliners and stretchers; assist patients in and out of wheelchairs; push wheelchairs; the ability to lift up to 25 pounds and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
Travel
This position may require some travel.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Nursing - Associate of Science with a current Texas/compact nursing license
- ACLS and BLS certifications
Qualifications
- Previous experience in nursing or other medical field (at least 3 months required, 2-4 years in hospital setting strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with medical software and equipment
Compensation
$32 - $44/hour, based on experience
