Position Function Summary
Reporting to the Information Technology Director, the System Administrator’s main role is to ensure the secure and authorized access of LFH personnel to the infrastructure. This position oversees the daily operations of La Familia Health’s (LFH) computer systems and provides support for the network infrastructure. The System Administrator works closely with the network support vendor under direct guidance.
Essential Responsibilities
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with the Network Support Vendor.
- Install and configure software and hardware.
- Support the EMR System Administrator in training and reporting requirement for the company and regulatory agencies.
- Assist in the implementation of IT projects and process improvements.
- Set up accounts and workstations.
- Troubleshoot issues and outages.
- Provide telephone support to staff and patients as needed.
- Ensure security through access controls, backups, and firewalls while collaborating with the Network Support Vendor.
- Assist with Helpdesk issues and work towards resolution promptly.
- Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
- Design and build an “intranet” site with technical documentation, manuals, procedures and other company-related internal resources.
- Verify that peripherals are functioning correctly.
- Arrange repairs quickly in the event of hardware failure.
- Monitor network communication.
- Manage password and identity.
System Administrator Responsibilities
- Manages user accounts and permissions within the network environment.
- Conducts regular system backups and ensuring data integrity.
- Implementing and maintaining system security measures, including antivirus software and intrusion detection systems.
- Monitoring system logs for security breaches and other anomalies.
- Performing system upgrades and patches in accordance with established procedures.
- Conducting system audits to ensure compliance with organizational polies and regulatory requirements.
- Provides technical guidance and support to other IT personnel.
Requirements
Education/Qualification, Experience and Skills/Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited program, preferred; Associate’s degree or higher, or certificate in general office skills/administration, or related training.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT support roles, with a strong emphasis on system administration, troubleshooting, and network management.
- Proficient in administering and supporting Windows and/or Linux server environments, virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Excellent organizational and self-management skills, including proficiency in time management, document management, task and issue prioritization, timely execution of tasks, effective communication, anticipatory skills, and a strong awareness of contextual and operational issues impacting immediate work progress.
- Profound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and their utilization, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- CPR certification, required.
