Classified ESC Preschool Part-time Aide/Assistant, Specialized Learning Center- Alum Creek Preschool chez Olentangy Local School District

Olentangy Schools is seeking qualified candidates for a Part-time Preschool Aide/Assistant, Specialized Learning Center position(s) available at Alum Creek Preschool for the 2025-26 school year. The preschool classroom will serve a range of students, ages 3-5, that qualify for special education services; and up to eight students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). This position is in our Foundations Specialized Learning Center (SLC) classroom. The staff in a preschool SLC classroom includes: one preschool teacher and two assistants working as a teaching team to support all the students. The teacher plans and implements the general preschool curriculum and has an intervention license to provide specialized designed instruction to meet the IEP requirements. The intervention aide/assistant role is designed to support the teacher by assisting with preparation of classroom lessons and materials, support student needs throughout the class period (i.e., bathroom/diapering needs, behavior supports, set-up for snack, instructional support, data collection, and support the teacher's needs). Qualified candidates will be employed through the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio (ESCCO) and must hold or be eligible for valid and appropriate licensure (i.e., Educational Aide Permit) for each position with the Ohio State Department of Education and Workforce.

Work hours for the position are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Mondays are for professional development, classroom preparation, child check screenings, and other duties as assigned. Preschool students attend Tuesday through Friday.

Employment status: Classified, part-time, 185-day employment contract

Qualifications for the position include:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Meets all mandated health requirements
• Valid and appropriate Ohio educational aide permit 
• Alternative to the above qualifications as Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

Essential functions for the position include, but is not limited to:

• Ensure the safety of students
• Works with small groups and/or individual students
• Supports and inclusive educational environment, helps students with disabilities participate in appropriate peer group activities as directed
• Assists with student mobility needs, helps students use assistive and/or augmentative devices
• Positions students to take full advantage of each learning environment (e.g., line-of-sight, proximity to equipment, height of work surfaces, etc.)
• Participates in parent conferences, open houses, and other required events when appropriate
