10/21/2025 Additional Information: Show/Hide - Assesses student needs and recommends educational programs to meet those needs for the purpose of successful transition into a community school program;
- Assists in developing education plans for transitioning students suspended or expelled from school for the purpose of finding an appropriate school placement;
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment;
- Meets with students and families, counselors, school officials and others to facilitate school enrollment and coordinate job placement for the purpose of facilitating school enrollment and coordinate job placement;
- Monitors progress and attendance of transition students for the purpose of assisting students in developing and achieving educational goals;
- Participates in a variety of meetings and travels both locally and statewide (e.g. conferences, meetings, trainings) for the purpose of gathering and conveying information regarding transition students;
- Serves as a liaison between education programs and the appropriate detention facility, informs detention center staff of student progress and needs;
- Maintains contact with administrators and other staff of school districts and educational programs within each county; acts as an advocate of transition students; provides consultation and training regarding delinquent youth to education program staffs as needed; may serve as liaison between parents and education programs;
- Attends meetings as requested by each school district and detention center or as required by program needs. May sit on various advisory committees as required;
- Attends pre-parole planning reviews; visits detention facilities as necessary to assess student needs;
- Completes reports as requested by OSPI Program Manager, ESD 123 Student Support Director and other reports as needed from Institutional Education Directors; provides student progress reports to detention staff, counselors and parents. Maintains confidential student casebook, records, files and information as required;
- Maintains knowledge of available educational support services and programs; provides information regarding services to students, parents and detention;
- Conducts screenings to identify needs of students and for referral;
- Performs related duties consistent with the job description and assignment.
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, education, or criminal justice; or a two-year Associates degree or a SUDP Certification and a minimum of two years’ experience working with local community services or government agencies regulating social and/or health services, juvenile justice, or rehabilitation
- Experience working with at-risk youth, preferably in a school setting;
- Experience in case management, documentation, and record keeping;
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with adolescents.
- Demonstrated case management / record keeping skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of alcohol / drug abuse federal confidentiality laws.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of substance abuse assessment, intervention, treatment, and recovery process for adolescents and families.
- Demonstrated knowledge of violence as it relates to bullying and harassment.
- Demonstrated verbal and written skills.
- Willingness to take direction from supervisors and understand ESD policies and procedures related to employee responsibilities.
- Ability to work successfully as an ESD team member by contributing to the ESD Strategic Plan, including supporting agency initiatives and sponsored events.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students and parents and community.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with school staff, including teachers, administrators and non-classified staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with adolescents, parents and community;
- Knowledge in child and adolescent development;
- Knowledge in conflict resolution methods and safety practices and procedures;
- Specific knowledge in community resources, Department of Social and Health Services, DCYF, Juvenile Justice programs, and work source training programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under a generally hazard free environment.Travel to schools within Benton & Franklin area; travel to trainings, local and state meetings; work schedule is flexible to meet the requirements of the job therefore evening and weekend work may be required.
Hazards: Those present in a normal office environment; no known significant hazards.
