Position Summary:
The Student Financial Services Coordinator Level 1 supports Student Financial Services and is primarily responsible for providing timely, accurate, and courteous response to student and family inquiries regarding their respective accounts. This individual will also support the overall functions of Student Financial Services by providing administrative services that contribute to the efficient and successful operation of the Bursar’s Office and Financial Aid. This position requires an understanding of student account activity, to include cashiering functions and financial aid processes, and a basic knowledge of federal and university policies regarding the safeguarding of personal and confidential information. The Student Financial Services Coordinator-Level 1 must possess strong customer service skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Exhibit a courteous manner and demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills when responding to inquiries via email, telephone, text messaging, and in person
Provide information to students and families regarding financial aid options and resources, processes for requesting aid, and eligibility requirements for receiving and maintaining aid
Assist students and families regarding their financial aid and student accounts; answer questions and help resolve concerns; refer as appropriate
Monitor and coordinate front-end cashiering operations to include entering student account payments, receiving departmental deposits, daily reconciliation of the cash drawer, preparation of daily deposits, and investigation and resolution of any balance discrepancies
Manage Creek Buck accounts for students, staff and faculty accounts
Work cooperatively with representatives from colleges and departments across campus to help facilitate an efficient, seamless and pleasant financial aid and student account experience for students/families
Provide administrative support for the Bursar’s or Financial Aid office as needed to meet student financial services goals and objectives
Safeguard and protect student information in accordance with federal requirements and university policy
Participate and support graduation, freshmen orientation and registration activities
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice
Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IV-Cash Management Regulations, Title IX, and Information Security, including FERPA and other state and federal guidelines
Education/Experience:
High School diploma or GED and 5 years proven customer service, banking, or student financial services, required.
Associates degree in business-related field and 3 years’ experience in student financial services, or BS in business-related field with 1 years of experience in student financial services, desired
Ellucian Colleague software experience, desired
TouchNet software experience, desired
Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also desired
Active NC Notary Public or willingness to obtain notary certification within 6 months of hire, desired
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with federal and university policies and regulations relating to financial aid and student accounts
Knowledgeable regarding basic accounting principles
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality is essential
Manage multiple concurrent tasks and meet set deadlines with attention to detail and accuracy
Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and standard methods of digital communication such as web/text/chat platforms
Comprehensive computer skills, with the ability to learn and utilize new and emerging technology
Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with university officials, faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, and the public.
Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
Exercise good judgment in complex, new and/or stressful situations
Adaptability, flexibility and a willingness to work in a changing environment
Availability to work flexible hours which may include occasional evening or weekend hours and special events
