We are seeking a Communications Specialist! Primary functions include managing the daily marketing operations and the overall delivery of the organization's service line strategic marketing plans. This includes planning, producing, and managing digital communications with a focus on social media, website content, and provider listings management. You also will function as a content creator and storytelling expert for the organization, with a focus on the development of compelling stories through photography, videography, and written content that highlight patients, employees, and community impact, bringing our brand to life across digital and print platforms.
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position, Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 5pm position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Education
- Bachelor’s or associates degree in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising or related field preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Certification:
- Basic Life Support Heartsaver (HS) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.
- Experience:
- Minimum two to three years’ experience in a professional office setting preferred.
- Knowledge and expertise of publishing programs preferred.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong writing experience preferred; both formal and informal (social media) delivery required.
- Advanced digital literacy and awareness of emerging digital communication trends.
- Ability to translate complex healthcare information into accessible, patient-centered content.
- Proficient in all aspects of computer work including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canva, Publisher, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and the ability to adapt and quickly learn new technology.
- Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills and ability to lead multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Under the direction of the Chief Development & Communications Officer, position is responsible for planning, producing, and managing digital communications with a focus on social media, website content, and provider listings management.
- Functions as content creation and storytelling expert for the organization, with a focus on the development of compelling stories through photography, videography, and written content that highlight patients, employees, and community impact, bringing our brand to life across digital and print platforms.
- Responsible for the continuous reporting of ROI and SEO analytics from our digital communications footprint, helping to ensure digital campaigns align with key target metrics for the organizations service lines and future development.
- Position serves as key brand ambassador, helping ensure all communications align with organizational branding, values, and compliance requirements.
- In collaboration with the Marketing Specialist, supports the development of the organization’s service line strategic marketing plans and provider onboarding.
- Leads preparation, coordination, and implementation of digital content for social media platforms – including but not limited to, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Oversees daily management of Samaritan as needed, incorporating progressive ideas and intuitive design.
- Develop and enhance relationships with appropriate media representatives.
- In collaboration with Marketing Specialist and Chief Development & Communications Officer, write and disseminate news releases, media advisories, photo releases, calendar announcements, and story pitches to appropriate news media outlets, utilizing external support as needed.
- Support outreach initiatives and special events—such as health fairs and community engagement activities—by providing promotional, logistical, and creative support, including photography and social media awareness to help demonstrate Samaritan’s community impact.
- Attend to the details of special event implementation and follow-up, collaborating with internal personnel and external resources as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- On occasion, moderate physical effort required. Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.
- Mostly sedentary work with light physical effort. Good reading eyesight.
- Ability/endurance to stand/walk for prolonged, extensive or considerable time.
- Occasional reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/crouching.
- Able to work flexible hours as necessary to complete tasks on deadline.
- Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family, and the public.
