JOB SUMMARY:

The Technician, Manufacturing & Facilities RTLS plays a vital role in supporting both production and facility operations. This position is responsible for coordinating and executing activities that ensure product quality, on-time delivery, and operational efficiency. Core responsibilities include oversight of the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process, customer communication, testing and troubleshooting of infrared (IR) and radio frequency (RF) systems, as well as assembly, repair, and packaging of components. The technician also contributes to facility upkeep, inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a detail-oriented and adaptable individual with strong technical and organizational skills who can balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

ESSENTIAL/PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Coordinate and manage the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process, including issuing RMA numbers, communicating with customers, preparing quotes and invoices, and ensuring accurate recordkeeping.

  • Perform testing, troubleshooting, and quality checks on IR/RF products and systems to verify performance and compliance with specifications.

  • Assemble and rework Midmark RTLS-produced components as needed, ensuring accuracy, quality, and adherence to engineering standards.

  • Maintain the Manufacturing Training Manual, keeping documentation current for both new and existing products.

  • Package and handle materials and products for shipment, ensuring on-time and damage-free delivery.

  • Support month-end inventory counts and prepare reports as required for supervisor review.

  • Identify and suggest improvements in manufacturing processes to enhance quality, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.

  • Assist the Fulfillment Team Leader in conducting routine building inspections, and scheduling repairs with outside vendors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

High school diploma (or GED) required. 2 years of prior related work experience in general manufacturing or shipping preferred. 2 years of prior related work experience in facilities and maintenance in a commercial setting preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

COMPETENCY and/or SKILL: 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and repair technical issues.

  • Knowledge of test methods and ability to use test equipment effectively.

  • General understanding of electronics and circuit board circuitry.

  • Proficiency with soldering and rework of electronic assemblies preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Detail-oriented with ability to complete responsibilities accurately and on time.

  • Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, and internal systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as safety rules, operating procedures, and maintenance instructions.

  • Problem-solving ability in environments with limited standardization.
