Position Duties
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
The Senior Maintenance Worker is a non-supervisory position in which you'll operate all tools, including light and heavy equipment, and perform construction and maintenance tasks outdoors as assigned. Responsibilities involve labor support, regularly handling heavy equipment operations, and tasks related to assigned projects, such as installing culverts and drainage pipes, repairing streets, removing trees, and clearing snow.

- Works as part of a team in various maintenance and construction assignments. The area of assignment may include using tools, such as shovels, compactors, drills, and saws. Safely operate light and heavy construction equipment, including concrete saws, hydroseeder, wood chipper, skid loader, backhoe, snowplow, street sweeper, and excavator.
- Assisting in the following areas: pavement and curb marking installations; patching, digging utility cuts; snow removal and sanding; cleaning ditches, catch basins and storm sewers; installing culverts and drainage pipes; snow removal; trimming trees, and general construction-related duties.
- Inspects, maintains, and reports to the supervisor when equipment maintenance is necessary.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Minimum Qualifications
ABOUT YOU:
A successful candidate will have some or all of the following ...
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D); and 3 years maintenance and equipment operation or related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
LICENSING IN:
- Class A Commercial Driver's License; with tank vehicle, and air brake endorsements; or obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License and tank vehicle and air brake endorsement within 6 months of hire.
- Non-motorized tools (shovels, compactors, hand tools);
- Light construction equipment such as concrete saw, stump grinder, hydroseeder, wood chipper, skidloader;
- Applicable standards and regulations;
- Grounds and facilities maintenance principles and practices;
- Safe work practices.
- Identifying and repairing/replacing unsafe equipment;
- Operating and maintaining applicable grounds maintenance equipment and tools;
- Maintaining records and logs;
- Ensuring compliance with safety requirements;
- Communication and interpersonal skills, as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc., are sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Other Qualifications
HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week.
Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
(Depending on projects and weather, scheduling may occasionally include evenings, weekends, and on-call.)
