SUMMARY OF POSITION
Under general supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for leading the assigned crew and completing the maintenance of airport grounds, facilities, airfield infrastructure and equipment. Primary duties include the coordination, inspection and completion of maintenance activities performed on the airport grounds. Additional responsibilities include tasks related to airport operational safety and environmental protection programs. This position may oversee other Airport maintenance staff and perform related work as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists and leads personnel and work performed by airport maintenance specialists and airport building attendants.
- Leads and assists personnel to accomplish objectives in a timely manner, ensuring that all tasks are completed to Airport standards which focus on the safety, security and appearance of the airport
- Performs, coordinates, and inspects maintenance activities performed on airfield grounds, pavement, airport lighting, airport signage, fencing and gates, fuel farm, airport facilities and various equipment.
- Performs, coordinates and inspects maintenance activities performed by building attendants in airport facilities such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal, dusting and general cleaning and upkeep.
- Assists Airport Maintenance Supervisor in maintaining and managing airport key and lock program.
- Prepares, inspects and operates the airports snow and ice control equipment and provides feedback on Snow and Ice Control Plan to include snow and ice prevention and removal from airfield surfaces.
- Performs, inspects and assists Airport Maintenance personnel in daily activities outlined in the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Security Program, Pavement Management Plan, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, and Spill Control Plan.
- Provides critical feedback about employee behavior and action to Airport Maintenance Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Serves as “Acting Supervisor” when Airport Maintenance Supervisor is unavailable or absent.
- Conducts airfield inspections, documents airport conditions to ensure airport assets are checked for FAA compliance and repairs or replacements are initiated and carries out changes in the airfield self-inspection program.
- Assists in training airport employees in conducting self-inspections, airfield driving, communications, operating various equipment, completing tasks and filing reports and documents.
- Responds to aircraft incidents and accidents.
- Communicates with the Air Traffic Control Tower (ATCT) when duties require access to the movement area (taxiways & runway) and operates vehicles and equipment in a safe manner.
- Reviews and purchases equipment necessary for completing tasks and responsibilities of airport maintenance staff.
- Issues/Cancels/Monitors Notice to Airmen (NOTAMs) to accurately reflect current airport conditions.
- Assists in the review and implementation of maintenance and operational procedures.
- Inspects job sites and enforces safety procedures.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
- Serves on callout crew, as needed.
- Works overtime as needed.

- Ability to use an air band radio and communicate with the air traffic control tower when duties must be performed on taxiways and runways.
- Ability to understand airport operations and schedule maintenance activities with minimal impact to airport operations.
- Ability to operate a vehicle on aircraft parking aprons, taxiways and runways in a safe manner.
- Ability to calculate decimals and percentages; ability to perform mathematical operations with fractions; ability to compute discount, interest, profit and loss, ratio and proportion; ability to calculate surface areas, volumes, weights, and measures.
- Ability to apply principles of influence systems, such as motivation, incentive, and leadership. Ability to exercise independent judgment to apply facts and principles for developing approaches and techniques to problem resolution.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the below Minimum Qualifications may be an acceptable substitute.
High school diploma or GED, supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving general maintenance laborer, technician or maintenance equipment operator.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- AAAE Airport Certified Employee (ACE) credential highly desirable.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working at an airport highly desirable.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Must pass a drug screen and background check.
- Must have Class C Texas Driver’s License.
- Must have a hunting license as part of the Wildlife Management Hazard Plan or obtain within 12 month.
Other Qualifications
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks require frequent use of one’s hands to touch, handle or feel objects, reaching with hands and arms, talking and hearing to multiple entities at once. The following abilities may be required between one and two-thirds of on-the-job time: lifting and / or exerting force up to fifty (50) pounds, standing, walking, sitting, climbing or balancing. Special vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job does require exposure to certain environmental conditions. Tasks might require frequent or prolonged exposure to working near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. Occasional or prolonged exposure may be required to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and extreme cold or heat.
