Position Title: Purchasing Manager

Location: Administrative Building – Columbus, Indiana

Reporting To: Director

Compensation: Salary / Exempt

 

Position Overview

NTN Driveshaft, Inc. is seeking a visionary and results-oriented Purchasing Manager to lead our procurement operations and drive strategic sourcing initiatives across a $400M annual spend. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for overseeing all purchasing activities that support our advanced manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, supplier compliance, and cost optimization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all direct and indirect procurement, including materials, services, supplies, and freight.

  • Oversee complex contract negotiations and supplier agreements across multiple facilities.

  • Ensure compliance with legal standards, purchasing policies, and ethical practices.

  • Develop and execute cost improvement strategies aligned with business plan objectives.

  • Supervise and mentor purchasing and scheduling teams, fostering continuous development and performance excellence.

  • Maintain and enforce the Supplier Manual in accordance with company and third-party standards.

  • Monitor supplier performance in quality, delivery, and capacity; initiate corrective actions as needed.

  • Conduct supplier risk assessments, audits, and onboarding evaluations.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support new program launches and ensure seamless procurement execution.

  • Maintain accurate records of steel receipts, scrap shipments, and supplier invoicing.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.

  • Minimum 5 years of procurement experience in the automotive manufacturing sector.

  • Proficiency in JDE or equivalent ERP systems.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal communication abilities.

  • Deep understanding of IATF and customer-specific requirements.
