The Opportunity 

Abt Global is currently seeking two Toxicologists for an upcoming opportunity focused on researching environmental exposures and their effect on human health. One Toxicologist will be at the management level, and the other will be an individual contributor. The project will focus on providing scientific and administrative support to an agency that addresses scientific and regulatory concerns about human health effects of chemical agents in our environment. As a Toxicologist, you will have expertise in one or more of the following areas, including but not limited to:
  • Computational toxicology
  • Developmental/reproductive toxicology
  • Endocrine disruption
  • Carcinogenicity
  • Inhalation toxicology
  • Acute/chronic systemic toxicity testing
  • Ocular and dermal toxicity testing
  • Chem/bioinformatics
  • Data management
  • Regulatory testing methods and health hazard and safety assessment
  • Development and/or validation of modern new approach methodologies, particularly Defined Approaches (DA) and Integrated Approaches to Testing and Assessment (IATA). 
This is a full-time role to be based in-office in the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina.

Core Responsibilities 

  • Investigate the effects of toxic substances in the environment and their impact on human health
  • Lead or work with (depending on the level) a multidisciplinary team and may coordinate with outside labs
  • Analyze experimental data to identify toxicological effects
  • Prepare detailed scientific reports and presentations
  • Support new approach methodologies

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s degree in toxicology, biology, chemistry, physics, cheminformatics or related area with at least 10 years of experience, or a master’s degree with at least seven years, a PhD with at least four years, or a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology (DABT) with at least four years.
  • Experience on another project with a similar scope and mission.
  • Familiarity with toxicology terminology, research methods, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in translating technical/scientific materials for a variety of audiences is required.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $105,120 to $168,192 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location.  Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
