About the Role

Service Stream is an ASX listed company who specialise in the end-to-end delivery of services required to roll-out, maintain and operate essential networks throughout Australia. We are at the industry forefront for design, construction and maintenance of new and existing Telecommunications, Transport and Utilities networks on behalf of our industry leading clients.

Nature of position: Permanent, Full Time

Location:  Melbourne / Brisbane / Sydney

Reporting Line: General Manager - HSE

The HSE Operations Manager will support the Utilities Energy & Power sectors to provide advice and assistance regarding HSE matters and facilitates consultation, coordination and communication between stakeholders to achieve HSE outcomes and promote a strong focus on the Service Stream Group’s Safety Value and Vision.

Key Responsibilities:

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate the following;

  • Work collaboratively with the Energy & Power projects across our Utilities Division to maintain effective and sustainable processes that are aligned to company standards and HSE programs
  • Provide regular reporting to the Energy & Power Sector leads, identifying issues and trends as well as actions designed to bring about sustained improvements
  • Manage the Energy & Power Sector projects' contribution to maintaining the company's HSE certifications (ISO, AS/NZS & Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner)
  • Work with Energy & Power Sector Leads, project teams and regional HSE Business Partners to investigate incidents to ensure effective and sustainable corrective action is taken and the lessons learned are communicated to the appropriate audience
  • Work with Energy & Power Sector Leads, project teams and the regional HSE Business Partners to sustain a program of visible leaderships through regular site visits and audits.
  • Support the Energy & Power sector leaders in meeting their injury management and return to work responsibilities
  • Maintain an understanding of the commercial needs of the Energy & Power sector projects and work with key stakeholders to integrate effective and sustainable HSE controls into the delivery of work for each project/contract
  • Lead and coach management and workers developing their skills and continually improving the company's risk management capability, participate in the identification, assessment and controls of HSE risk, ensure identified HSE risks are elevated to the appropriate level of management for action.

What do you bring?

In addition to the above, we require an individual with;

  • Excellent people management skills, with the capacity to listen to others, identify their needs and provide appropriate direction, guidance and support.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with a demonstrated ability to discuss a wide range of issues to engage people across all levels of the organisation, including senior management.
  • Working knowledge of Legislation, Standards and Codes and ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AS 4801 standards
  • Strong skills in auditing and investigation.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a HSE leadership role across a national business within engineering, heavy industry, industrial shut-downs, manufacturing, construction, and/or utilities infrastructure is desirable.
